===== Fifth Order: Florid Counterpoint =====

The rules established by the five orders ((species)) of two-part, three-part, and four-part counterpoint, must suffice for studying florid counterpoint, without need of adding new rules. Here is an example of the present order ((species)):

When the pupil has amply gone through these exercises, florid counterpoint should be introduced into two parts at a time, and, finally, into all the parts, with the exception of the one which contains the given //cantus firmus//.
